My incredibly late entry for the Doctor Is In challenge over at #LeatherMaskArt (as well as a mask I'm debuting with several others at Faerie Escape Atlanta this weekend!). The Plague Doctor is such a definitive form of the carnivale mask. I couldn't resist making my own style for it.

I imagine this mask being worn by a hedge witch or a raven shaman. I think in future incarnations, I might add feathers and bead strands dangling from the sides.

This mask was hand carved from 6 oz leather and tooled with texture stamps. It was then wet-formed and painted with acrylics. Finally, it was sealed with varnish for protection. It is affixed to the face with elastic cord.
